Child of darkness

[Next morning]

A crowd of  people were at the alley that morning, for they found a woman laying in it, shivering, sobbing, bitterly cold, and barely alive, an ambulance parked nearby and medical professionals came out to  put the poor woman on a stretcher, "alright ma'am, could you tell us what happened?" One of the ambulance men asked, the woman looked up at him absolutely terrified and whimpered one word "darkness....."

A little boy wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts watched  the ambulance road away from the scene, he had a black ball in his hand and was standing at the back of the crowd, a sweet smile spread on the boy's face "That's a pity, a real shame.." he said, but even though his voice and smile were sweet, there was no mercy in his light, red-violet eyes...

The crowd started to scatter but the boy stayed at the scene, he  sat on a nearby bench and started bouncing his ball, acting as innocent as possible, Hmm, that was a filling meal last night, but I'm going to need to feed again tonight..,  he thought as he caught the ball and looked up at the sky "I wish someone would play with me" he said aloud, at this time of day this boy appeared to be nothing but a regular little kid, but only the woman knew what horrible he was in the darkness

From a distance, Yuu stared at the crowd wondering where the fire was at. Being utterly confused as to why that they would be so stimulated by what it was they were staring at, she decided to walk over and find out what was going on. After tipping her gourd skyward and taking a long, fierce gulp of alcohol from her container of choice before she drunkenly skipped her way over to the area, only failing when she attempted to stop and faceplanted, straight on her nose.

She lifted herself up, wiping off her front before calling out to a little boy she saw not too far away. "Hey! Hey, you!" Yuu yelled loudly.

The black haired boy looked at Yuu, giving the lady a look of confusion "yes?" He asked as politely as possible, This woman is obviously discombobulated or drunk, she'd make and easy meal, he thought hungrily, if only it wasn't day time he'd take advantage of this moment.

"Do you know what was happening over here a few minutes ago? Y'know, with the huge cowr-" Yuu hiccuped, pausing her sentence. "Excuse me. The crowd?" She covered her mouth lightly with two fingers to prevent another hiccup. She looked the small boy up and down, wondering to herself if he would be of any help.

Salem had to try his hardest not to chuckle or smile, trying to look as compassionate as possible "The nice lady was attacked last night, but no one knows by what" Said the little boy, who was mentally laughing at the fact no one knew.

"No one knows? Sounds like a mystery t'me! And you know what mystery means?" Yuu suddenly attempted to grab the boy by the shoulder, using her other hand to tip her gourd upward so that she could take a long drink. "A mystery means that it's time to play detective!" She said cheerily, the scent of sake on her breath almost overpowering.

When Guy's hand touched Salem she would feel how deathly cold he was. Salem looked at the hand, trying not to look disgusted, Ugh, that smell, did she bathe in alcohol?, he thought in disgust, however, he decided to keep playing innocent "Play detective, like a game?" He asked like an excited little kid.

"Yeah. Like a game~" Yuu said as the temperature of her forced companion finally hit her. "Hm?" She felt for his neck and his forehead to see if they were the same level of cold. "D-did you notice that you're a lil'..chilly?" She tilted her head and stared at him, wondering what could cause that.

Salem smiled innocently "Oh, it's nothing, i feel fine" he said in a cheery voice, trying to get her to change the subject. Since Yuu was a kishin egg, she'd see the slight, black aura around Salem, it would be like a faint outline that only people who can see souls can see.

As she slowly began to process the aura around the younger boy, she slowly began to rub her eyelids to see if that was just some sort of alcohol induced hallucination, like the unicorn made of bacon a few feet away. Yuu reached her hand outward and flicked it around within the aura. Upon realizing that it wasn't tangible, she slowly drew away from the kid. "Why're you...oozing black?" She motioned generally.

Salem gave her and innocently confused look and tilted his head "Are you feeling ok? You're being sorta silly" he said with a childish giggle, trying to play as dumb as possible.

There was a slow yet garbled attempt at a rebuttal to further assert what Yuu felt about what she saw, but she coughed and a bit of purple smoke escaped her maw. She tipped her gourd into her mouth for a swig of sake before shrugging and writing it off as drunken idiocy. "S'nothin'. C'mon kiddy, let's go be detectives!"

Salem smiled warmly "Ok!" He said cheerfully, looking eager for an adventure, That was close, that drunken lady almost found me out, Salem thought, but not even showing a hint of his concern.

Without warning, Yuu suddenly grasped Salem by the knees and tried to hold him over her shoulder as she ran off in a random direction to go and find evidence for the crime. "So what's your name kiddy?~" She asked cheerily, trying to avoid obstacles in the way of her speed of justice.

Salem was completely caught off guard and was picked up, and in response he failed for a moment "Whoa, whoa, whoa, easy!" He exclaimed at first "And my Name is Salem, Salem Ravensdale"

"Sorry, sorry!" Yuu exclaimed, trying to make the ride a bit smoother for her passenger. "My name's..., what was it again? Yuu! Yeah, Yuu! That's me. Yuu with two Us, not you with one u. Make sure not to forget that, if you gotta write it down!"

"Of course" Salem said, only adding a hint of sarcasm in his tone, but not enough to be entirely obvious, "So where are you taking me?" He asked, slightly relaxing in her hold.

"Well, well! I'm taking you towards adventure, Salem! Adventure! And mystery and..murder.." She said the last part in a hush-hush spooky voice so as to set the tone for the adventure that she was creating within her head.

Salem raised an eyebrow in confusion "Uh, murder? I never remember hearing anything about murder..." He said, This is going to be a VERY long morning..., Salem thought.

"Well, in a mystery, there's always a murder! Sometimes it was the butler, and sometimes it was the dog. But in most cases, it's always the husband." She nodded twice to affirm what she just said.

Salem gave her a wry smile when she started talking about generic mystery situations, "Oh really?" He asked when she concluded, still managing to sound polite despite his sarcastic expression, "Also, how far is this place??" He asked, getting a bit tired of being carried  in that manner.
