The Witch of Paris

Codi sat in his seat, a bit nervous of all the other people on the plane. He could feel a few staring him down and that made him sweat a little. All sorts of thoughts started crowding his head. He always tended to over think things, it was a feature of himself that he honestly despised. Troubling thoughts like, "What if we fail?" and What if we get hurt??" is all he could really think about. He didn't care much for his own safety, but more for his weapon and partner, Luci. He knew that she was much more timid than he was, and afraid of a lot of things. He felt responsible for her safety, even if it was from her own fears. He looked over to the seat next to him to check on her.

Luci sat in her seat beside Codi, her thoughts going completely wild as she imagined what could happen to them. She was trembling slightly, and wrapped her arms around herself in attempt to hide it. Her red gaze was trained on the ground in front of her seat, her breath rate picking up as her mind raced. She thought of all the horrible things that could happen during the flight. The engines could fail as they flew over the ocean, the wings could fall off, the pilots could faint suddenly and the plane would plummet to the ground, the plane might not even take off, the wheels could fail to release when it landed, a nuke from some angry terrorist group could hit them.

Her thoughts were insane, she knew, but she couldn't help imagine each scenario in excruciating detail. She wished she would stop, but when she tried it just brought on another bought of ideas. She felt the hairs on the back of her neck rise, and peeked over at Codi to see that he was looking at her. She turned her face away, hiding among her vast amounts of hair in hopes that he wouldn't see how freaked out she was. For God's sake, the plane hadn't even taken off yet!

Codi could tell that she was already freaking out. He didn't exactly know what to do so he panicked and quickly wrapped both of his arms around her, hugging her tightly. "I-it's okay..! Everything is just fine..!" He was trying to be helpful and reassuring but he wasn't sure if he was helping..

The plane eventually started to take off and take flight. The way the turbulence was shaking the plane couldn't have made Luci feel any better.

Luci started to shudder even more when Codi embraced her. She knew he was trying to help, but it just made it worse for her. But she leaned her head onto his shoulder, her breathing was shaky, and she leaned closer for comfort. She felt her stomach convulsing as the plan began to take off, and she squeezed her eyes shut. She was suddenly very grateful that she wasn't sitting near the window, she didn't want the option to look outside and watch as the ground grew farther and farther away....For heights were a phobia of hers, as well as planes, obviously. She felt herself being jostled around by the turbulence, and found herself shaking more now.

Several hours passed and the plane finally landed in Paris. As Codi walked out of the airport, Luci was still holding onto him, he thought it was cute, but he knew she was doing it for a different reason. He held his hand and called a cab over as soon as he saw one. He looked down at Luci and tried to pry her off.

Luci, still shuddering horribly, held onto Codi for dear life, stumbling out of the airport on wobbly legs. Despite her whole body shaking, her hands were surprisingly still as she clutched to him. She watched, but barely registered it, as he called a cab over. She squeaked and held on tighter to Codi as he tried to pry her off. But after a moment, she did relinquish her grip.

"S-sorry." she stammered.

"It's alright" He smiled warmly and put his hand on her head. As the cab pulled up, he opened the trunk and put their luggage inside. He then opened the car door and allowed Luci inside first, before getting in himself. "Uh.. Can you take us to the nearest hotel, please?"

Half an hour later, the cab stopped in front of the hotel. Codi payed the driver and got out of the cab, then helped Luci out before grabbing their luggage and walking to the hotel doors, he assumed Luci was following close behind him and hoped she wasn't freaked out of anything else that could be going on.

Luci smiled nervously up at Codi when he touched her head, then ducked into the cab. She slid to the end of the seat, huddling up against the window. Words couldn't express how happy she was to be back on the ground, on the wonderful, solid, Earth. She barely heard as Codi asked the cabbie to take them to the nearest hotel. She drew her knees up and wrapped her arms around them, staying that way for the duration of the 30 minute drive.

When they arrived, she had calmed down quite a bit. She slipped out of the car, standing somewhat shakily after not being on her feet for so long. Now that the initial shock of the journey was gone, she realized how tired she was. The 12 hour flight had left her fatigued beyond belief. She suddenly knew how Leo felt when he stayed up all night.

She followed Codi closely, her eyes darting around them. It was late now, the sun far below the horizon, and she felt her fear of the dark creeping into her mind. But, of course, Paris being the City of Lights, it wasn't very dark. So, she was fine, for now. She stumbled a bit as she walked, almost running into someone. Luckily, she caught herself before she did so. She walked into the hotel shortly after Codi, peering about the spacious building with wide eyes.

Codi walked up to the counter and got the key for "their" room. Reason for it being their room is because Codi was never able to keep track of money very well. Afterwords, he looked at Luci a bit nervously, he wasn't too sure how she'd react to the idea of them sharing a room. He then shook it off and gestured her to follow him to the elevator.

Luci barely registered the fact that they'd be sharing a room. No, that's not right. She welcomed the fact. There was no possible way she would enjoy staying in her own room...all alone...with no one else there...She wouldn't fall asleep at all if that happened. No, it wouldn't happen. She followed Codi up to their room after thanking the person managing the counter.

Codi pressed the second button on the elevator, taking them up to the second floor. He didn't want their room to be too high but still high enough so that she could get a nice view of the city. As the doors opened, he walked her down the hall to their room, stopping in front of the door and looking at her. "Hey, uh.. I-I hope you don't mind but I.. I kinda misplaced the money that was supposed to be for your room, so... We're staying in the same one... Uh... S-sorry.." He scratched the back of his head, a bit nervous of what she would think.

Luci waited patiently in the elevator, humming along to the soft tune playing. She bounced on the balls of her feet, almost completely recovered from her freak-out on the plane. As the doors opened she followed Codi swiftly down the hall, almost skipping. How exciting, she was in Paris! How amazing! She remembered the last time she'd been in France, with Skyler. It was a while ago, but it had been fun. What wonderful memories. She smiled kindly when Codi stammered about the misplacement of the room.

"That's o-okay." She stuttered, "I-I don't l-like staying a-alone anyways. I'm t-too s-scared, you see..."

He was honestly a bit surprised, but happy that she agreed to the decision. He then unlocked and opened the door to the room, then allowed her inside first. He followed and shut the door behind him, he was still quite nervous. He hadn't forgotten the real reason they were here. They were here to hunt Kishin, not to enjoy themselves. Although, he could probably figure something out to do a little sight seeing. He wasn't sure about Luci, but this was his first time here.

Luci shuffled into the room, stopping in the center and looking around. It was a nice, quaint room. There were two beds and a TV, along with a small bathroom. She sat down on the edge of one of the beds, crossing her ankles and swinging her legs. She looked over at Codi with a wide smile,

"This is pretty cool..." She murmured, "I wonder if it'll be just as fun as my last visit."

Codi took a look around as he sat on the other bed. He was a bit surprised that she had been here before. "You've been here before...?" He asked curiously. He took a moment to look at how cute she was, which caused him to blush a bit but was still noticeable. He didn't seem to notice though.

Luci turned her head and smiled at him, folding her hands in her lap. She didn't notice his blush, she was too caught up in her own happiness to be aware of anything else. "Yeah, I spent a year in Europe remember? Sky just had to take us to France." she laughed softly, offering a grin. She swung her feet and laid back on the bed, spreading her arms out on the soft bedding.

Codi felt genuinely good to see her smile like that. He smiled him self and laid back on the bed, spreading his arms out as well. "So... When would you want to go out...?" He looked over at her and smiled warmly. He didn't realize until moments later that his thoughts got the best of him. He was thinking so much about Luci, he mistakenly thought they were here together as a couple.

It's not like he hasn't thought about it before, it was actually a pretty common thought that crossed his mind. But he had to fix his mistake before she got the wrong idea. "I-I mean to hunt kishin..! Not... On a.. Y-you know..." He groaned and face palmed himself, embarrassed of what just happened.

"So... When would you want to go out...?" At this, Luci blushed deeply, her mouth hanging open. She tried to speak, but no words came out. She turned her head from laying on the bed slightly so she could see Codi, who was floundering at his mistake. She let out a breath of relief when he fixed his error, for she would have had no idea how to respond to such a question. She giggled quietly to herself before responding.

"Um...I don't know...when we find out where it is I suppose." She replied with a smile, brushing her bangs from her eyes

Yami walked the streets of Paris, not really noticing anyone. As he looked around he saw many a beautiful girl, though sadly all of them were taken. He began to flashback to the last time he was here. He had a reunion with on of his best friends, got him and girl friend....closer... Ah and then there was his girl friend! He had met her here, it was cool! Oh AND THE PLANE RIDE HOME! He got a big grin on his face thinking about it, though he wasn't paying attention to where he was going.

Codi chuckled slightly, he may have made a mistake with what he had said, but the look on Luci's face was well worth it. She was pretty much adorable no matter what she did. He laid back on his bed and let out a content sigh before taking off his boots. He was never really the type to lounge around when he needed to do something important, but he was pretty tired from the plane ride and just wanted to relax for about an hour.

Luci scooted up to the head of the bed, pulling the covers down. She quickly settled down underneath them, curling up into the fetal position. She closed her eyes, smiling. She didn't think too much about Codi's mistake, she just assumed it was because of the long plane ride. She knew she'd be jetlagged for a while, and decided to sleep it off quickly before it got the better of her. So she snuggled down under the blankets.

"Well, I'm gonna t-take a nap." She mumbled, already drifting off to sleep.

Codi glanced over at her, sighing softly before reaching up and grabbing the pillow and placing it on his face. It took him a while to realize that he actually liked Luci in that special way, but he didn't think he would ever have a chance with her. He continued to think about this until he fell asleep.

A couple hours later, Codi jolted awake and sat up quickly, breathing heavily. He never did like sensing a kishin egg while he was sleeping... It caused him too have quick flashes of nightmares. He quickly shook it off and put on his boots, falling onto the floor before jumping back up and shaking Luci gently. "Luci, c'mon, we gotta go..." He sounded a bit more serious than usual, because this kishin was very close.

(Oops, sorry Belac! We won't skip you again I swear <.<)

Luci had fallen into an easy sleep, her limbs and extremities relaxed far more than was normal for her. She was even snoring quietly as she dreamed. She dreamed of Paris, the city of lights, and of Leo and Sky. Though, when she woke, she wouldn't remember this dream.

She awoke with a start as Codi shook her. Her eyes snapped open and she tried to push herself away from him, then she remembered where she was. She quickly stood, trying to brush off her embarrassment at her jumping. She slipped her tiny feet into her tiny flats and started for the door, glancing back at Codi.

"W-where is it?" She asked, fear creeping into her voice, immediately assuming it was the Kishin egg.

(lol, is k. BUT DON'T DO IT AGAIN! XD)

Yami had been in his room, half sleeping half awake. It was a habit of his. He got the sleep he needed, but if something wasn't right, he would jolt awake. His room, right next to Luci and Codi's, who had yet to meet, had an intruder. He immediately jolted awake, a weird feeling in the air. He reached for his sword, and kept it in his hand, just int case. (yes he sleeps with his sword, shut up XD)

(hope you don't mind, but I was planning for the kishin egg to be in Yami's room since idk what the original plan for hunting it was. If you want me to I can fix it.)

(Yeah, that's fine. I was actually going to make the Kishin in the building anyway xD )

Codi was quite surprised how quickly Luci got up, but didn't question it because they needed to hurry. He walked over to the door and put his hand on the doorknob. "It's in the room right next to us..." He glanced at Luci to see what her reaction was, but then put his hand on her head. "Everything will be fine, I promise." He smiled warmly and opened the door.

Luci nodded, trying to hide her trembling hands. Fear, which had already been settling in, suddenly soared inside of her. Not only was the Kishin near, it was in the next room. Could things get much worse? She doubted it...but, she also wouldn't put it past fate to do so. So, she reluctantly walked out of the room. She peeked over at Codi, "Should I change now?" She asked, unsure.

Yami stood up, walking around searching for the intruder, only be kicked through his own door. As he hit a near by wall he coughed up some blood looking at the kishin. "Stupid little...." Then he looked over to see Luci and Codi. "Pay no attention, DWMA business." He said unaware of who they were.

As Codi opened the door he witnessed the kishin attack the person in the room. He quickly looked at Luci and simply said, "Crossbow". He then held out his hand and awaited the transformation, not exactly paying attention to what the guy in the room had said.

Luci followed Codi hesitantly to the room next door. She was too scared to listen to what the boy had said, but what she caught was something about the DWMA. At least it's not a civilian.. She thought with relief. Her attention turned to Codi, nodding, and she reached out her hand to take his. A bright blue-pink light surrounded her, bursting through the room then retreating. Once the light dispersed, Codi was holding a golden crossbow criss-crossed with silver designs.

(Sorry for not posting last night, was feeling lazy and too tired >.> Also, should I have Lea come in or let Yami fight on his own?)

Yami sighed. "Good, some other students." Yami stood up and ran at the thing, blade drawn. He swung at it's stomach, only to see it grab the blade, and kick him backwards. He saw now he either needed a partner or to use soul menace. As far as HE knew Lea wasn't here soooooooo, it looked like it was soul menace once he got back up.
