I Can Be Useful Too! Not How He'd Hoped?

Jun sat in the middle. Three surrounding him. All a family. Even though they died, he couldn't help but envy they way they did. All together. Something he could never know. Maybe that was his curse. Jun's eyes passed over each of them. They were each pinned to a separate wall by bones that he disconnected from himself.

Spinning the three souls in front of himself, he wondered on what he was doing. The existence of these souls were proof of an afterlife. One he was robbing them of. Worse than murder. "T-together... Inside me." He muttered in resolution. They had their chance, and this was his. And uneasy expression crawled across his face as he brought one of the souls to his face.

A scream. Family of four then. Jun lazily scanned the area for the late comer. He wouldn't torture her by letting her live.

Jun would find a single, ghostly purple, razor edged playing card stick itself in the floorboard in front of him. "Yo, dude, if I were you? I would quit it." 

Twas Deck, a weapon of zero renoun and zero fucks, standing at the rooms entrance, another card in his hand. 

"Seriously, eating a persons soul? Fucked up man. You surrender now, we MIGHT be able to reverse the corruption you got. Or, y'know, not. Not like I know much about souls. But surrender? MUCH better than the alternitive." He said in a calm, relaxed manner.

Kitty was alone... and cold... and hungry... and a cat. There was no food for her anywhere in sight, but there were people all over the town, and if her old master had taught her anything, it was that if you hurt people enough you get food orbs! Her master had called them souls... right? Something like that. Point was, it was chow time.

It was then that Kitty heard a scream. Out of curiosity, she trotted to the street it came from and looked at the two boys and the girl. The girl surly made the scream, but Kitty cared not. The two boys had her attention for the time being. So she sat there, staring at the two with her head cocked.

"Nya? The cat seemed to question curiously.

Jun threw the second soul into his mouth, showing his measure of the other boys input. "C-can never go back." He muttered under his breath. The girl took the opportunity to dash out of the front door. "L-look now...." He spoke in a more audible tone. "Now she'll be all alone while the rest of her family's in me."

Jun grew two spikes from his forearms the size of the bone they sprouted from. "I-if you leave now I won't hurt you." He paused for a moment as he thought. "I-I have to save the girl." Which now clearly meant to hunt her down, and kill her. Jun pointed the bone weapons at the stranger, the other hand still holding the third soul.

"Guy, how is KILLING her saving her? You are ending whatever potential she might have. You kill her, she will never go to college, find a boy friend, get married, get a job and try to change the world. Sure, what you just did may wreck her life, but that doesn't mean her life is over."

Deck sighed. 

"Seriously guy, you DON'T want to go down this path. You think eating souls will make you happy? Make others happy? It won't. It's like trying to fill a sinkhole with more dirt. Might make it seem full for awhile, but the sinkhole ALWAYS returns, bigger than last time. Turn back from the path you walk now, while you still have a chance."

Kitty saw the soul in Jun's hand, slowly creeping towards him. Food orbs were just what she needed. They made her feel all full and happy inside. She crept as close as she could to the souls, then trying to paw it out of his hand. If he dropped it she'd be able to gobble it up, right?

Jun spared an eye for the paw at his hand. "C-cat?" He spoke quietly before his thoughts were called back by the student at his front. "Sh-shut up!" He pleaded. "It'll work. It WILL work!" He continued, his voice cracking slightly. The will he spoke of being that he did want to make others happy. It was more greedy then that though. He wanted others to be happy with him. "D-don't want to h-hurt you..." He said in a tone reflecting his almost child-like innocence on the subject. It was true that he didn't want to hurt the first person not to cry in fear at his form in so, so long. In his fervor the soul drops from his hand, leaving it for retrieval.

"Then don't. Dude, I would not even be making this offer if I didn't think you could turn back from the path you are on. As it is? You have two options in front of you. You can stop eating souls, attempt to redeem yourself.....Or you can continue on the path you are on, and always feel that sense of loneliness in the back of your heart. Your choice, not going to force you into making a decision...But to be honest, I don't particularly want to fight you either. And if you decide to stay on your current path? Thats what its going to come to."

Kitty was disappointed that he didn't let her have the soul, but that quickly changed when he dropped it. Running on pure instinct, Kitty grabbed the soul and gulped it down in one quick motion. However, in her opinion one food orb is never enough. So, without further bothering of the two, she began to attempt to run after the girl.

Jun trembled, thinking back to the DWMA. "N-no redemption. I-I-I was lonely there to. Lonely in the crowds, just like I am now in the empty rooms." Jun walked around the student, to head for the door. "T-twenty-two are dead. N-no redemption." He babbled to himself, bringing a hand to either side of his head. "Y-you need to leave." He pleaded to the boy once more.

Deck sighed. "And you think taking souls will make that lonliness go AWAY? It'll just make it worse. At least at the DWMA, you had a CHANCE at making friends. And twenty two is alot, I will admit, but a wise man once said, there is no crime, no matter how foul, that a person cannot redeem from." 

He stuck out his hand as an offering of peace. "Come with me. Come back to the acadamy. There, you can at least begin the STEPS to redemption."

Kitty took the opportunity to search the house, finding the girl curled up in her room. The cat gently nuzzled up to the girl, making her feel a little safer... until Kitty decided to place her tail under the girl's chin then transform it into a Kama blade, cutting the girl's throat. Soon after the food orb appeared, which Kitty gulped up happily, her fur now coated in blood. She didn't bother to turn her tail back because why should she? She began her trot back to the door, the bloody blade just kinda hanging from her tail.

Jun looked down at the boys hand, then after a short pause, shook his head. "N-no... Maybe." He replied to the boy. "N-no way. You just want to turn me in." He argued, trying desperately to justify his position. "T-they'll kill me for what we did!" Jun turned away from the boy once more, his eyes catching the sight of Kitty. "M-meow...?" He mumbled, tilting his head.

"Dude, no. I swear, they will NOT kill you if you turn yourself in. There is precedence, MULTIPLE precedence, for this. I WOULD NOT turn you in just to be killed. I swear." 

Deck then noticed the cat. "The hell is up with that cat?"

Kitty was trotting past the boys when she heard Jun, stopping to face the two. She sat and cocked her head at Deck's remark. What was so wrong with a cat? "Nya nya...?" The cat questioned again, swishing the tiny scythe behind her head in a series of silver and red flashes. This was obviously normal for her, which probably wasn't good.

Jun's mind was blanked by the appearance of the animal. His wavering control of perception finally told him. "C-cat weapon?.." Jun cringed at the possibilities that could come from this, and counted himself lucky it wasn't a lion. "Y-you're pretty weird too huh?" He spoke past the cat, like was talking to himself.

Remembering the situation he turns back to the boy. "I-I'm s-sorry, but I can't go back." He began backing up to the door. "E-even if they let me in, the other student's would kill me all the same." He explained, obviously worried. Continuing his retreat, his continues with an ever quieter voice. "And if they don't do that, they definitely won't come near me... I'll just be trapped."

"And you aren't trapped now? Dude, I promise you, if any of the students try to harm you when you go back, I will punch them in the face. Scouts honor."

Deck was silent for a moment. 

"Look, guy, even if you don't come to the academy, DON'T continue on the path you are on. Eating innocent souls will just make your life MORE difficult, not less. It will become harder and harder to tell who actually wants to help you, and who wants to use you, and you will grow more and more alone."

Kitty decided that the boy near the door needed her more, and could probably feed her. So, without hesitation, the cat strolled over beside him and sat facing Deck. She then looked up at Jun happily. "Mew!~" She cooed happily, swishing her tail gently. It was her way of choosing a side in the obvious conflict, not that they would know that for sure.

"SHUT UP!!" He pleaded again at the top of his lungs, his eyes becoming an embarrassing red. His voice suddenly dropped back to a pathetic near silence. "That won't happen. I won't let that happen." Jun looked down the cat rubbing his leg. He spared it an awkward grin, before he continued. "J-just stay away from me, okay?" He warned, turning, and exiting to the empty street.

"..."

Deck was silent for a few minutes after Jun left, before punching the wall. "DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT! ALMOST! ALMOST!" The weapon grunted. He had ALMOST convinced him to surrender. ALMOST. Goddamnit. Deck HATED failing. He took a deep breath. "Calm down, Deck, its alright. You will likely have the chance to try again later." Underneath his scarf, he grimaced. "Of course, by then, it will probably be too late." WHY did he ALWAYS have to fail? If it had been Pop doing the talking...

"Pop would probably have been able to talk him down. Damnit." With a final, empty, sigh, Deck exited the building, and went on his way.

Kitty had followed Jun out, trailing him down the street. She wasn't sure where they were going, but it couldn't be a bad place, right? Maybe there would be food there? She decided to pull up beside him and let him know she was still here. "Nya!" She called out happily, hoping that if he noticed her he might play a little.

Jun continued his aimless walk through the street, his mind calming as he was distanced from the stranger that challenged the code that brought him to kill twenty-two people. "C-cat." He mumbled looking down to the animal. "You're trouble aren't you?" He teased in a lighter tone than he had used that day. "What do you want anyways?... You're a dark weapon, but... how?" Jun spoke to the cat, knowing it was probably pointless.

The cat just kinda stared at him, wanting to say something but to no avail. "Nya...?" She replied, knowing all too well she couldn't understand him. If she was to talk to humans, they had to understand her. To do that, she needed to talk. To talk, she needed a proper mouth. Maybe she'd use her other form for a little while? Nah. That would be saved for later. So instead, she simply returned her tail to it's usual fluffy state, retracting the blade into it.

Jun took a knee next to the cat, scratching it behind the ear as he looked for a collar. "H-how do you name a cat anyways... Whatever." He relented, and continued walking. He never had a pet before, and probably wouldn't be any good at it. He still needed more souls though. Jun, wrapped his arms around himself like he was cold. The thought of taking souls was made all the more sour by the boys protests to him. Maybe he should have returned, but it didn't matter now.

Kitty noticed Jun seemed to be distressed or cold, so to solve this problem Kitty decided she was too small. She'd have to take the other form after all. Without further thought, she began to shine with a purple light and began a morph into her mostly human form, complete with cat ears and a bright smile. She proceeded to use this form to atempt to latch to Jun in a hugging fashion so she could keep him warm.

Jun was too deep in thought to notice the transformation, but he definitely notice the physical invasion. "W-what are you-?" His eyes widened, terrified. "Who are you!? What do you want!?" He trembled slightly, resisting the urge to skewer the person on his natural weapons. "I-I'm a Kishin Egg you know? D-d-dangerous. I-if you don't let go I'll lift you high off the ground and it'll be really scary!!" Jun kicked himself on the inside. That was really as scary as he got.

Kitty cocked her head, looking awkwardly at Jun. "Nya...?" She asked, still sounding rather cat-like. She didn't quite get the threat, but she did notice that Jun was upset with her. So, to make up for her ignorance she backed up and looked at the ground in shame. She just thought if he was cold and sad she'd try to cheer him up while she warmed him up...

D-did that just work? Jun glanced over his shoulder. "N-nya?" He echoed the girl, now looking at the ground. "D-don't be like that! I-I didn't mean it really!" He said, worried again. Why was the world so intent on making him uncomfortable all the time? "Y-you just caught me off guard! You shouldn't hug strangers anyways... I think."

Kitty decided he was scared and held open her arms like she wanted to hug him again. It was common for people to be surprised at first. Wait... was he even looking when she transformed? Her ears twitched a bit while she thought, her tail was just kinda flicking back and forth calmly.

Jun looked up to the ears, then down to the tail. "W-weapon cat?" He asked still expecting that she could answer.I-Is it weird to hug a cat?... Jun thought to himself. Seemed innocent enough. Jun walked into the cats arms, and accepted the hug. He couldn't help the feeling of complacency that would wash over him. "T-thanks..."
